NOVIG'S: How to Bet on Football
What is a Money Line - How does it work?: Money line wagers are the simplest form of sports bet. In a pure Money Line, all you need to do is pick the winner, but the odds vary depending on who is favoured. If the line is Team A -200, Team B +180, you risk $200 to win $100 on Team A, or $100 to win $180 on Team B.
Betting Rules:
- Money Lines are indicated by a plus sign (+) or a minus sign (-).
- Money Lines posted with a minus sign (-) require a wager equal to the amount shown to win $100.
- Money Lines posted with a plus sign (+) require a $100 wager to win the amount shown.
- The team wagered on must win the game.
- Tie games are considered No Action, causing the original wager to be returned to your account.
- You cannot place a Money Line bet on both teams.
- You cannot place a Money Line bet and a Point Spread bet on the same team.
- All wagers are final.
- The Money Line may change between the time a sports bettor places the wager and the event's start time. Payout of the wager is subject to the Money Line that is active at the time the wager is placed (usually - read rules where you bet).
- Tampa Bay is +260 to beat Dallas -160. You wager $160 on Miami. If Dallas wins you win $260 (the Money Line payout plus your initial wager).
The following shows two outcomes on the same game, one with Dallas winning and the other with Tampa Bay winning:
- If Dallas wins Money Line -160 Your Wager $160 Payout (including wager) 260.00
- If Tampa Bay wins Money Line +260 Your Wager $100 Payout (including wager) 360.00

NOVIG'S PERSONAL TIP: JUST BECAUSE YOU LOVE GREENBAY DOESNT MEAN THEY'RE GOING TO WIN! If you love a team so much that you can't stand it if they lose - DON'T BET ON THEM - YOUR BET ISN'T GOING TO MAKE THEM WIN!
